The Bone-Weighing Fortune Telling Method was a predictive technique developed by Yuan Tiangan, a famous astrological forecaster from the Tang Dynasty. This method was believed to determine a person's fortune, misfortune, honor, disgrace, rise, and fall throughout their life with high accuracy. A person's birth year, month, day, and hour each have specific numerical values, with predetermined weights assigned to each component. By adding together the weights of the year, month, day, and hour, and consulting the "Bone-Weighing Song," one could determine a person's destiny. The weight of a person's birth year is determined by their Chinese zodiac year cycle (such as Jiazi year, Yichou year, Bingyin year, etc.). The final calculation of these weights would then reveal their fate.
About Yuan Tiangang
Yuan Tiangang, the inventor of bone-weight fortune telling, was a renowned physiognomist and astronomer during the Sui and Tang dynasties, born in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. Though born into poverty, he was passionate about Taoist arts and physiognomy. He served as a local official during the Sui dynasty and early Tang dynasty.
